07 Oct Documentary Celebrates Past, Present, and Future of Variety
Heartbeat, A Legacy of Love is the title of a new documentary project from local writer, producer and director Dwight Iwan that is now available on MTS TV Stories From Home.
Filmmaker Dwight Iwan says, “This is a ‘Must See’ for anyone who watched the annual Variety telethon back in the 1980’s and 90’s. Variety’s impact on our community both philanthropically and culturally was huge and still is today!”
Heartbeat, A legacy of Love is a snapshot of Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba, TENT 58. From the initial signing of the organizations charter in 1978 to the creation of their popular locally produced telethons and how the organization continues to support Manitoba children of all abilities today.
Variety Manitoba CEO Jerry Maslowsky says, “Heartbeat, A Legacy of Love is a tip of the top hat to our founders vision and the legacy they created that continues to have a profound positive impact on the children of Manitoba today.”
Heartbeat, A legacy of Love features commentary and insight from a host of notable Manitobans including legendary Winnipeg son Monty Hall, former local television personality Stan Kubicek and renowned band leader Ron Paley alongside the children, families and volunteers that have been the core of Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba since 1978.
