Created in 1958, the Smurfs have proven an enduring world-wide phenomenon. Variety is excited to collaborate with Sony Pictures to create limited-edition pins featuring iconic characters Papa Smurf and Smurfette from “Smurfs: The Lost Village,’ which premieres April 2017. Proceeds from the pins, which are for Variety’s 27th annual Gold Heart Campaign, will benefit Variety programs that provide life-saving, life-changing, and life-enriching equipment and services to children who have a disability or are disadvantaged.
The collector’s items will be available for a minimum donation of $3.00 or 2 for $5.00 at select retail outlets December 2016 – May 2017.

The annual Gold Heart Campaign is a project of Variety International, with millions of these gold pins being sold around the world. Variety International is very fortunate to have established the connection with Hollywood that has allowed images from some of today’s blockbuster movies to be featured on the Gold Heart pins. Variety’s Gold Heart Campaign is a major fund raising project for Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba. Manitoba is also known as the North American Gold Heart sales leader, per capita, and sells an unprecedented number of past years’ pins to avid collectors.
Since 1991, these pins have been sold each year in support of children of all abilities.
