Madison “Maddy” Walker is a very energetic and enthusiastic 13 year old girl who has Cerebral Palsy.
Currently in grade 8, Maddy loves being able to do everything with her brothers and friends.
Recently, Maddy and her family requested Variety’s assistance to help cover the cost of a new Hippocamp All Terrain Wheelchair through Variety’s Special Needs Program.
Maddy had outgrown the Hippocamp Chair she had since she was 7 years old and without a new one would not be able to continue doing everything with her friends and family, including experiencing the great outdoors.
Two years ago, Maddy joined her family when they hiked Mount Robson and made it to the base of Stanley Glacier in Kootney National Park because of her Hippocamp Chair.
To ensure Maddy could continue participating in her family’s adventures, Variety approved the Walker’s request to help cover the cost of a new Hippocamp All Terrain Wheelchair that would be the right size and fit for Maddy.
This summer, Maddy and her family headed off to the Maritimes. With her new safe and comfortable means of transportation, Maddy was able to do everything on the trip including heading to the beach, sitting by the ocean, go hiking and camping.
The Walkers’ are a very active family and this new chair means Maddy can be out and about with them for years to come.
Variety helped break down barriers and created equal opportunity of inclusion for Maddy. Of all the special needs Maddy has, feeling like a kid is the one she needs most. Any Child. Any Need. Every Day.
