To be recognized throughout Manitoba as an organization that makes a meaningful and genuine contribution to the lives of children.
Variety, the Children’s Charity, has raised more than $30 million in Manitoba and touched the hearts of over 800,000 children to meet the special needs of children with all abilities. Our efforts enable children to participate more fully in life’s activities. Variety provides funds for adapted equipment so that children can run as well as walk; play hockey instead of watching TV; “read” computers even though they may be blind. Established in 1978, Variety the Children’s Charity of Manitoba is associated with Variety Canada under the auspices of Variety International.
Operating with a volunteer Board of Directors, a dedicated group of volunteers and a very small staff, Variety is recognized as one of the premier children’s charities in the province.
Variety, the Children’s Charity, is dedicated to raising funds that enable us to meet the tangible needs of children of all abilities in Manitoba.

It is with extreme sadness that Tent 58, Variety, the Children’s Charity of Manitoba announced the passing of our CEO Jerry Maslowsky, his age the same 58 as our Tent number. Jerry lost his battle with an aggressive form of cancer on Sunday, September 4th 2016. Jerry brought his talents and many connections to Variety as CEO in May 2014. In joining Variety, Jerry stressed it “was a perfect fit” as he always believed deeply in giving back to the community while looking forward to working with in the Variety organization by ‘getting things done’ for children.
During his all too brief time with Variety as CEO, Jerry spearheaded on a number of initiatives to benefit children of all abilities in the community, and was a champion for providing positive change at every opportunity. Everyday and everywhere Jerry went he repeated the mantra “Any Child, any Need, Every day!”
Jerry encouraged and supported the Variety staff and volunteers who work for our Variety children. Whether it was partnering with the Manitoba Home Builders Association to help renovate a home for one of our own Special Needs Children, dressing up for Halloween at Lower Fort ‘Scary’ or supporting the care and development of Variety’s Camp Brereton, Jerry’s tireless potivive encouragement and efforts were unwavering. His love for this Charity and all Variety kids and families will be cherished forever.
The Maslowsky Family, Chris, Tara, Bobby, Kaylee and Jared will always be a part of our Variety Family.
